Martyn Gill of Gateshead Thunder RLFC has recently launched an event called the stride2gether Walkathon in which community clubs sign up to organising a sponsored walk over the last bank holiday weekend in May to raise funds for their own club development whilst supporting Try Assist – The RFL Benevolent Fund by agreeing to split the funds raised on a 50/50 basis.

2011 see’s the pilot phase of the event in which a handful of clubs have agreed to sign up and take part and these include Kippax Knights, Egremont Rangers, Wortley Dragons, Methley Warriors, Dewsbury Moor, Townville Tigers and Peterlee Puma’s.

The aim of the pilot phase is to review the success of the events with a view to rolling the event out nationwide in 2012 making it a truly unique event in which we all stride2gether to develop our community game whilst supporting the excellent work of Try Assist.
