Carl Dacres who was seriously injured playing for East Leeds has set himself a target for being out of hospital for his wedding day on August 1st 2009.
Carl (38) was taken to Pinderfields Hospital following a spinal injury playing for East Leeds on March 29th. Carl remains in good spirits with a positive attitude despite suffering a serious spinal injury.
He said: “I would like to use the RFL Benevolent Fund in thanking many family, friends & supporters. There has been a great response from the rugby clubs of East Leeds, Harehills, Queens and Paul Fletcher’s Leeds Met University. Everybody has been great and a big thank you also goes to Boston Spa School, Pinderfields Hospital and the RFL Benevolent Fund.
“My girlfriend Leanne and my mum have been absolutely tremendous. Leanne and I are due to be married in Jersey on August 1st this year. I have set myself the target of being strong enough to be at my own wedding.”
Carl remains very poorly but his determination to fulfil his wedding day pledge is a massive positive boost to his general recovery. We all wish him well and support him through these difficult times and in his aspirations to be ready for his and Leanne’s big day.
