An amateur rugby league player Adam “Carney” Cooper, 31, has died during a North West Men’s League Division Four match on Saturday.
Adam was playing for the Warrington side, Culcheth Eagles, away at Runcorn ARLFC on Saturday when he collapsed on the side-lines of the match. The open age team was playing away at Runcorn ARLFC, when the tragic incident occurred on Saturday afternoon.
Cooper’s sudden death has sent shockwaves throughout rugby league and has sparked an out pour of support from Britain’s Rugby League community. With support coming in from fellow players, teams and Rugby League fans throughout the UK.
The RFL Benevolent Fund is currently supporting both the family of Adam Cooper and team at Culcheth Eagles through this difficult time. The family ask for privacy at such a difficult time, but appreciate the overwhelming support and condolences they have received.
Funeral arrangements for Adam Cooper will be announced here once final arrangements have been agreed. A minutes silence will be held at all professional clubs before fixtures this weekend.
