Presidents Ball 2012 raised over £20,000

img044Pictured is Danny Scott and family at the RFL President’s Ball.  The Las Vegas themed Ball raised over £20,000.  Danny, who played for the Huddersfield team Mould Green, has recently had his house re-adapted with the help of the Benevolent Fund to accommodate Danny’s disabilities.

Try Assist aim to help Rhinos player James Brook

JAMES_BROOKJames Brook has a rare form of facial cancer.  He was diagnosed in December 2011 with Rhabdomyosarcoma .  He attends Temple Moor high school in Leeds.  James plays rugby league for his local side Oulton under 16’s and is a proud member of Leeds Rhinos Scholarship Scheme.

MATT KING INSPIRES ENGLAND TEAM

smallMKEnglandSteve McNamara and the England team continues to support the RFL Benevolent Fund.  Matt King was invited to be the guest speaker giving the England Team a motivational speech before the England v Australia game at Wembley.  Matt was present at their pre match training session at Wembley and went on to give the boys their match day shirts at the hotel in the afternoon.

British Lions Annual Lunch

tryassistlogosmallThe RFL Benevolent Fund and the British Lions are holding their annual lunch on Sunday January 29th 2012.  The luncheon event will take place at the Cedar Court Hotel, Bradford at 1pm.  As well as the normal fundraising itinerary, the function hosts the RFL Roll of Honour awards.  These prestigious awards are given to individuals who have made a lifelong contribution to our game.  Former Lion and broadcaster, Ray French, has been a previous recipient.

John Power breaks World Record

John Power was just 18 when he suffered a devastating rugby injury which left him confined to a wheelchair.
